Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore has emerged winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election for the Osun State governorship elections scheduled for 9th August 2014.
Omisore won with a wide margin by polling1, 128 votes, leaving his closest rival, Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi, with 45 votes, and 4 votes for Honourable Wole Oke.
The fourth candidate in the primaries, Senator Isiaka Adeleke withdrew last night citing the “desperation and determination of an aspirant to maim and kill to secure the ticket at all costs.”
Omisore — who infamously won a senatorial slot in 2003 while in prison for two years standing trial for the murder of late Bola Ige — will contest the election with current Governor of the state, Rauf Aregbesola (APC); former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Fatai Akingbade (Labour Party); and former Head of Service, Segun Akinwusi (UPN).
