Fresh from overseeing the star-studded wedding of her son which brought a galaxy of eminent personalities to the ancient cities of Ibadan and Kano, First Lady of Oyo State Florence Ajimobi is preparing for another blockbuster celebration. This one will be in honour of the pretty woman herself as she clocks 59.
Not many will forget in a hurry how Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, stood still for the wedding of her son Abolaji to Fatima, daughter of Kano Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. In the same vein, anticipation is already sky-high for the birthday of the woman of impeccable character and great vision who will turn 59 on April 5.
Though pressure is being put on the soft-spoken mother of five and grandmother of three to organize a grand birthday shindig as befits someone of her status, those expecting her to roll out the drums should get ready for disappointment. If indications from her past celebrations is anything to go by, the day will be a low-key occasion for the first lady.
In previous years, the brain behind ABC Foundation choose to mark her birth anniversary with the less privileged. And just last year she marked the day by donating an ICT centre for the people’s use. The woman who has been married to Governor Ajimobi for over three decades is always thinking of ways to help alleviate the sufferings of indigents, especially women and children, in the state. Her ABC Foundation is her means of bringing quality healthcare to the doorsteps of the citizens.
As the clock counts down to the fifth of April, high society is already getting ready to felicitate with the woman whose towering humility and passion have made her the toast of the populace. And that is despite the fact that this year’s celebration is likely to be a small affair. All indications are that this will change next year when she will clock the landmark age of 60
