Poverty in His Wealth… How Gabriel Ogbechie abandons Childhood friends

The Managing Director/CEO of Rainoil Limited Gabriel Ogbechie is one of the men who makes things happen in the oil and gas industry. He makes a killing from regular multi million Naira contracts from the biggest businesses in town and deploys his decades of experience in that sector to establish a foothold that many of his peers can only dream about.

With 40 petrol stations scattered throughout the country, two huge tank farms, 80 trucks for petroleum distribution and six seagoing vessels for importation, Gabriel Ogbechie has turned Rainoil into a domestic giant in the downstream sector, a position that seemed unfathomable when he started 21 years ago with just 3000,000 Naira.

Yet all is allegedly not well in the world of Gabriel. The unassuming dude who hails from Delta State is being accused of dumping his former close pals like a bad habit ever since his rise to prominence. Despite the rain of riches that has been falling on him since he ventured into oil business, he has allegedly abandoned some of the friends he grew up with to die of thirst in the desert of penury.

Those in the know claim the man who runs the popular Gabriel Ogbechie Foundation does not bother to check up on some of his childhood friends who have become roommates with poverty and lack. He is more interested, they claim, with maintaining his place at the high table of kings. He allegedly ignores their calls and refuses to see them or listen to their supplications. He allegedly looks down on them and treats them as people unworthy of his attention.

The situation is claimed to have become so bad that some of his pals whom he attended the University of Benin with have sworn not to have anything to do with him again on account of how he has been treating them in recent times.

Some of them are however pointing the finger of blame at his beautiful wife Godfrey as the person who allegedly blindfolded Gabriel’s eyes to the plight of his friends. In their opinion, over the years she had been patiently gathering cement which she has now used to build a roadblock barring Gabriel from coming to their aid.
