Professor Kayode Adebowale of the department of Chemistry has emerged as the 13th Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council John Odigie-Oyegun made the pronouncement after a meeting held by the Council at the Institution’s Senate Chamber.
He defeated the incumbent acting vice-chancellor, Adebola Ekanola, and 14 others in a keenly contested process that took almost one year to resolve.
According to the Chairman, on Wednesday 13 October 2021, the Council interacted with 15 candidates. He added that Adebowale emerged the best after a thorough process which he noted was witnessed by representatives of the Federal Character Commission and the Federal Ministry of Education.
Professor Kayode is a Professor of Chemistry and the current Deputy Vice Chancellor of administration at the University of Ibadan.
