It is one thing having a master. It is quite another to walk the steps he trod, experience the sensations he felt and do the things he did. It is an experience tinged with surrealism words cannot express. But that was exactly what happened to former beauty queen Ibidun Ighodalo few days ago.
The boss of Elizabeth R, an upscale events planning company on the island, was on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in company of her husband Ituah. It was a dream come true for the former Miss Lux as she got to be baptized in the waters of River Jordan, the same river Jesus was baptized in at the beginning of his ministry.
Overwhelmed and humbled by the experience, the adoptive mother of pretty Keke took to social media to share her excitement. She even had time to poke fun at her husband, the senior poastor of Trinity House Church, Ituah Ighodalo, who was by her side, smiling yet anxious, through it all.
Ibidun, the brains behind Ibidun Ighodalo Foundation, has already encountered her baptism by fire. No sooner had she been sealed in wedlock with Pastor Ituah than tongues began to wag over her apparent childlessness. Amidst the nights of self-doubt, she forged ahead resolutely, her husband by her side. She has become a beacon of hope to women everywhere with her healt and fertility-oriented programmes.
Now she can enjoy the baptism by water, all smiles and humility and gratitude and pride in herself for how far she has come. Just like her mentor Jesus Christ whose baptism marked his formal arrival in the big time, few are betting against beautiful Ibidun emerging from her latest experience with renewed fire to make a difference.
