Those who find that the powerful Awujale of Ijebuland Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona has “disappeared” from his Ijebu Ode palace should calm down as there is no cause for alarm. The Lagos Times Gathered the venerable royal father is most likely in London to celebrate the arrival of his newest grandkid.
The tiny tot is courtesy Princess Kemi Adetoun, one of the monarch’s beautiful daughters, whose royal wedding is still reverberating in people’s minds many months later. She put to bed at a London hospital and she and her hubby Diran are over the moon to have successfully brought their first child into the world.
There isn’t expected to be an official homecoming and presentation of the bouncing baby girl to the public as the princess and her husband prefer to keep a low profile. This hasn’t however stopped the Awujale from revelling in the latest addition to his sizable list of grandchildren. Most of the nine children from his three wives are already married with kids who fondly call him grandpa.
Despite his long years on the throne, the paramount ruler of Ijebuland is not in a hurry to call it quits. He effortlessly shrugs off old age and death rumours alike while going about his kingly duties. there doesn’t seem to be any stopping the man who 58 years ago became Awujale at the tender age of 25.
