Following the resumption of some schools across the states, the Federal Government has warned school owners to adhere to measures put in place to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire issued this warning during the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on Monday.
According to him, ten percent of recorded cases in Nigeria are under 19 years old.
“With regard to COVID-19 and growing complacency, it is important to stress that, even though adults, especially those 60 years and above are more vulnerable, complications do occur in all age groups.
“Records show that 10 percent of all positive cases we have treated are below the age of 19 years.
“Therefore, as schools begin to reopen in some areas, I urge caution and adherence to the protocols and advisories for re-opening schools, in order to join us to prevent the COVID-19 surge,” Ehanire said.
