The Supreme Court, on Friday, dismissed all three appeals to overturn Sheriff Oborevwori’s election as governor of Delta State.
The apex court dismissed the appeal filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ovie Omo-Agege, who is a former Deputy Senate President.
The Supreme Court held that the APC candidate failed to prove his case against the governor.
DailyPost reports that members of the PDP in Warri South, Udu, Warri South-West, and other parts of the state, were seen in celebration mood on Friday morning.
The governor, Oborevwori, was also spotted at the Government House Chapel with members of the PDP, dancing and giving thanks to God for the judgment that upheld his election.
Justice Nyang Okoro, who read the judgement, said the APC and its candidate failed to provide substantial evidence to prove that the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial election in Delta State failed to comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act.
The court also resolved all issues against the appellants.
The Supreme Court also dismissed the appeals filed against Oborevwori’s election by former Minister of Education (State), Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, and Mr Ken Pela of the Labour Party, LP.
