Sylvester Oromoni: Court Grants Five Dowen Students Bail Of N1m Each

Chief Magistrate Olatunbosun Adeola of a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court yesterday granted N5 million bail to each of five pupils of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos being tried in connection with fellow schoolmate, Sylvester Omoroni’s death.

The court also ordered that the defendants stay within 2km of their residences at all times.

Adeola granted the students bail following their arraignment by the police on a two-count charge of conspiracy and homicide.

The police charged the minors following the alleged murder of their schoolmate, Oromoni, aged 12.

The magistrate also ordered the defendants to produce two sureties each in like sum.

Magistrate Adeola said that one of each of the defendants’ sureties must be their parent, and must swear an affidavit of compliance.

She further held that the international passports of all the defendants must be submitted to the court, and their residence must be verified by the prosecutor.
