Tinubu Writes Senate, Seeks Confirmation Of Service Chiefs

President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate to seek the confirmation of service chiefs.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, read the letter at the resumption of the plenary session on Tuesday. He noted that the service chiefs would be screened by the entire Senate in its chamber at a yet-to-be-announced date.

In the absence of the relevant Standing Committees of the Senate , the Senate referred the President’s Letter to the Committee of a whole where the appointees would be required to appear for Screening.

Recall that last week, the President similarly asked the House of Representatives to confirm the newly appointed service chiefs. The Speaker, Abass Tajudeen, read the President’s letter at opened Thursday plenary session.

Thelagostimes recalls that the President appointed the service chiefs on June 19.

The Service Chiefs for screening and confirmation by the Senate include Major General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff; Major Taoreed Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff and Air Vice Marshall Hassan Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff.
