Tonye Princewill, a governorship aspirant in Rivers State, has rated Governor Rotimi Amaechi low in terms of delivering dividends of democracy.
The self-acclaimed ‘Digital Politician’ scored Governor Amaechi 4 out of 10 when he was interacting with his followers on Twitter yesterday, Thursday.
A follower, with Twitter handle @Agbonko, had asked him to rate the incumbent governor. “You scored Amaechi 4/10 d last time on viewpoint nw on Crossfire what will you score his performance so far?” The Kalabari Prince did not mince word as he pointedly said “Same.”
The questioner responded with a verdict of 8 out of 10; a grade to which Princewill responded with “Freedom of Speech.”
Princewill has been having some running, albeit silent, battle with Governor Amaechi over his tent-pitching with President Goodluck Jonathan. The governor’s camp is not happy that Amaechi, who had maintained a neutral stance on the impasse between Governor Amaechi and President Jonathan, suddenly made a u-turn supporting President Jonathan.
Princewill dropped his gubernatorial ambition to support Amaechi in 2011. He left Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) with his political associates and followers to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside Alhaji Abubakar Atiku in the run-up to the 2011 General Elections.
Princewill, the Chief Executive Office of Riverdrill Group of Companies, has been mobilising Rivers youths for his gubernatorial ambition in 2015. He is presently a member of PDP, the party which is under the firm control of the Minister of Education, Wike Nyesom, who is also contesting for the same post. Only last week, Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Goodluck released a statement supporting the serving minister.
Princewill has been the arrowhead of membership registration for Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) in Nigeria. It is not clear yet if he would be contesting on PDM platform.
