The bill to create another state in the South-East region has passed a second reading in the House of Representatives.

The bill, which suggests the creation of Etiti State from the five states in the South East passed a second reading on Thursday.

The new state, if created, would cover 11 current local government areas in that region.

Lawmaker, Amobi Godwin Ogahin his reaction, highlighted the significance of establishing the state to ensure the southeast region is on par with the other zones in the country.

The bill proposing the creation of Etiti State from Anambra, Abia, Imo, Enugu and Ebonyi States, had passed its first reading at the Green Chamber.

Five members of the House of Representatives, Amobi Ogah, Miriam Onuoha, Kama Nkemkama, Chinwe Nnabuife, and Anayo Onwuegbu, presented the proposal to form a new state from the five states in the region.
