BREAKING: DSS Releases Eight Detained Aides Of Sunday Igboho

Eight detained aides of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho have been released to their lawyers, Pelumi Olajengbesi.

Thelagostimes gathered that the aides were released on Monday after the Department of State Security (DSS) failed to comply with court ruling on the matter.

Recall that the lawyer had issued an ultimatum to the DSS to release the detained aides, who were arrested at the home of Igboho.

Judge Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja had on July 23 ordered the DSS to produce the detainees in court on July 29. But the DSS only produced 8 of the detained 12 aides.

The aides were subsequently released following the threat of filling a case of contempt against the security outfit.

Those released appeared at a press conference on Monday afternoon with their lawyer. They are Abideen Shittu, Abdullateef Onaolapo, Ayobami Donald, Olakunle Oluwapelumi, Dikeola Ademola, Bamidele Sunday, Raji Kazeem, and Taiwo Tajudeen.

Those still in DSS custody are Tajudeen Irinloye, Uthman Adelabu, Amudat Babatunde, and Jamiu Oyetunji.

Speaking at a press conference after the release of eight of the 12 detainees in Abuja on Monday, Olajengbesi insisted that the remaining four of his clients must be freed because they had been granted bail by the court.

He also stated that the DSS must account for the two associates of Igboho killed during the bloody raid of July 1, 2021.
