Early morning explosions have rocked Borno and Yobe states a couple of hours to the opening of polling units for the general election.

A resident told TheCable that the explosions started a few minutes to 6am, with reports suggesting Maiduguri and parts of Yobe were affected.

More than eight explosions were said to have been heard in Maiduguri. The explosions occurred around Molai, Dambo’a road, Bulumkutu and Njimtilo road axis.

Military helicopters are currently hovering over Maiduguri town.
