BREAKING: Many Trapped As Two-Storey Building Collapses In Lagos Island (VIDEO)
Many people are reportedly trapped, following the collapse of a two-storey building in the Isale Eko area of Lagos State.
The building which collapsed on Thursday is a few meters from the Palace of Oba Riliwanu Akiolu on Lagos Island.
Thelagostimes gathered that the structure was alleged to have been defective. The integrity of the building was reportedly compromised following a fire in parts of Dosunmu Market on Lagos Island.
According to eyewitness, the unfortunate incident occurred at about 11am on Thursday.
Men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASEMA, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Nigeria Police, among other emergency responders are said to be on ground searching for survivors.
The Spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Nosa Okunbor, in a statement made available to newsmen, said that the Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, led the search and rescue operations at the scene.
