Coronavirus: Reps Donate Two Months Salary To Battle Pandemic
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has disclosed that 360 members of the green chamber would donate their salaries for the next two months towards the fight against the virulent coronavirus.
Gbajabiamila said the contribution by the lawmakers would support provisions for welfare of frontline medical professionals and health workers during these turbulent times.
The Speaker said the Clerk to the National Assembly has been directed to see to it that “all members salaries are transfered to the National Relief Fund for this month and next month”.
He said the donation was not part of the individual efforts by members to assist in alleviating the suffering occasioned by the virus and to improve the living condition of citizens in their constituencies.
