The Minority Leader, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, said they would appeal a Federal High Court judgment which restrained defecting PDP members in the House from changing the House’s leadership.

This is contained in a statement issued and signed by the Personal Research Assistant to the Minority Leader, Wasiu Olanrewaju-Smart in Abuja on Monday.

Gbajabiamila, in the statement, said the judgment was “a product of error of the court” and the lawmakers would lodge an appeal at a higher court.

“The judgment is strange and will be appealed; no person can be compelled by law to stay in an association against his or her wishes.

“It negates a fundamental right of association of every citizen that is inalienable. Section 68 of the constitution has been turned on its head and the error of the court is manifest,” he said.

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday restrained the 37 PDP lawmakers, who defected to APC, not to take any action to change the leadership of the House.

The judge also said the affected lawmakers were not competent to vote or contribute to any proceedings in the House.

The PDP has instituted action against the lawmakers praying the court to restraint the legislators from altering or changing the leadership of the House.
