2019 Election: Security Agencies Sensitize Corp Members
As the 2019 general election approaches, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have been urged to desist from political campaigns, arguments during the election process.
During an interactive session with the Nigeria Civil Defense Corps, The Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police in Funtua, Katsina state today, the corp members who have been mobilised as ad hoc staff for the February 16th election were urged to be vigilant, attentive and security conscious in their various polling units.
In his address, the controlling Captain of the Nigerian Army in Funtua, assured the corp members of their support during and after the election process. He however urged them not to be involved in campaigns for political parties as this might result in violence.
Also speaking, the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Funtua, Isa Umar assured that the election process would go as peaceful as possible. According to him, over 300 policemen have been mobilised to ensure peace and stability in the various polling units.
Meanwhile, corp members in the zone and other parts of the country recently concluded the training sessions organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This training, according to the commission, was to familiarise the corp members with the election process and as well, acquaint them with the various election materials which will be used.
