‘It’s Not About Money’, Says Oshiomhole About Rift With Obaseki
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, on Saturday averred that his estrangement from Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State was not engendered by pecuniary motives.
Oshiomhole disclosed this when he appeared on a programme on Channels TV.
Oshiomhole stated that the feud was neither about money nor appointments but matters relating to dividends of democracy and inclusive governance.
The former governor of the state said Obaseki had affirmed that he (Oshiomhole) nominated only one out of over 20 commissioners into his cabinet.
He said, “What we expected the government (Obaseki) to do is to give Edo people the benefit of continuity.
“Are these issues personal to me? We have no argument over money. We have no argument over appointments. In fact, in the meeting we held with four governors including Governor Bagudu (Kebbi), I asked the governor (Obaseki) how many persons did I nominate to your cabinet he confirmed it was only one.”
He added that Obaseki later removed the commissioner he nominated along with seven others but he didn’t take any offence because he was out of government.
