Just IN: Another Building Collapses In Lagos

A two-storey building has collapsed in the Palm Grove area of Lagos State.

Thelagostimes gathered that the incident occurred on Wednesday morning at Oke Arin Street, off Shyllon in the Ilupeju area.

Confirming the incident in a statement, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said the structure collapsed to ground zero in the early hours of the day.

The statement further explained that no life was lost to the incident. However, one man was reportedly injured.

“Further investigation revealed that the incident occurred at about 12:45 am due to aging of the structure. Fortunately, no loss of life.

“However, one adult male sustained a minor injury and has been taken to the hospital. The affected building has been cordoned off in order to prevent any threat. Operation (has been) concluded and Cobra team heading back to base”, LASEMA said.

Recall that in recent times, there have been several cases of building collapse in Lagos. In November, 2021, a high-rise block of luxury flats under construction collapsed in the Ikoyi area of the state, killing at least 40 people.

There have been other incidences since then, the latest being the collapse of a church building under construction at Cardoso Street, off Martins Street in Mushin about two weeks ago.
