President Muhammadu Buhari has formally endorsed Osagie Ize-Iyamu as the party’s candidate in the Edo State governorship election.

Thelagostimes gathered that President Buhari presented the party’s flag to the APC candidate in the presence of two other governors elected on the party’s platform.

They are Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State.

Chairman of the caretaker committee of the All Progressives Congress, Mai Malla Buni, while briefing State House correspondents on Friday, said that Buhari gave his blessings to the candidate.

Ize-Iyamu, who also spoke to journalists, said it was not true that President Buhari did not want to see him, saying it was falsehood spread by the opposition.

Ize-Iyamu is the top contender for the Edo election, challenging incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki who is seeking reelection in the September poll.
