Lawrence Grace Foundation Honours Gov Abiodun’s Wife, Pastor Ighodalo, Others

Mrs. Oluyinka Adewoye, Convener, Lawrence Grace Foundation has appealed to government at all levels and policymakers to provide laws designed to eradicate sharp practices against widows, restating commitment to women empowerment in the country.

Adewoye made the appeal at the Foundation’s fourth year anniversary, dinner and award ceremony held at the Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi Lagos.

According to her, widows, indigent school children and the less priviledged have special needs which could not be attended to by the government alone, thus, the birth of the Lawrence Grace Foundation.

“We are not remembered by how much material things we possess, but by the number of lives we touch and be a blessing to. Lawrence Grace Foundation remarkably has empowered over 1,000 widows in the last two years with outreaches in over eight locations in and outside Lagos with free medical consultation, free drugs, free empowerment programmes, free food items and households to all the beneficiaries”, she added.

Highlight of the event was the awards given to top Nigerians who have been consistent in making life meaningful to the women and downtrodden over the years.

The awardees include Governor Dapo Abiodun’s wife, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun; Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, Mr Abiodun Olatunji, SAN, Partner Abdulahi Ibrahim & Co, and Chairman, Jus Partners Cosmpolitan Ltd, Mr Adedoyin Adesina.

Others are the Managing Director, Techno Trends Platforms Nig Ltd, Mr Frank Okosun; CEO, Knight Frank, Rotary Club of Eko Atlantic, Canary Point Corporate Services and Phillips Pharmaceuticals Nigeria Limited.

Adewoye expressed her optimism that the honour done the awardees would spur them more to give back to the society.
