Ondo Govt Directs Workers, Students To Wear Native Attires On Fridays
The Ondo State Government has ordered all students attending both private and public schools, as well as all state employees to go to work and school on Fridays dressed in traditional attires.
Speaking during a media briefing that took place shortly after the state executive council meeting, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju noted that the action was taken to encourage culture and traditions among state citizens.
According to her, the state exco took some significant choices about other pressing matters.
She said: “The Council decided that from now on, every Friday, Workers in Ondo State would be required to wear traditional wear to work. And for students in the State, it is permissible from now on that they can wear traditional attires to school every Friday.
“You will agree with me that your culture makes who you are. With the Western Civilization today, culture is going into extinction.
“We have to make sure that we protect our culture from going into extinction.”
