Oyo SDP Picks Woman Educationists As Ayorinde’s Running Mate

Ahead of the 2019 governorship poll, the Oyo state chapter of the Social Democratic Party,(SDP), has picked an educationists, Mrs. Mufidat Adenike Gariba, as its deputy governorship candidate
A statement by the party stated that the SDP picked Mrs. Gariba following comprehensive consultations with leaders and stakeholders within and outside the party in the state.
The party said: “The elders caucus of the party, after series of serious deliberations, brainstorming and wide consultations finally agreed that Mufidat Gariba should be the running mate of Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN.
“The party has absolute confidence and belief that the combination of the duo will win the February gubernatorial election.
“Mrs. Mufidat Adenike Gariba, came highly recommended and widely endorsed”, the statement said, adding that stakeholders all agreed that without any iota of doubt, the Bolaji – Mufidat combination is the path that would lead to success in the forthcoming elections.
“Mufidat’s life and beliefs are guided by her strong Islamic faith which has been her foundation all her life”, the statement said.
Also, the governorship candidate, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN, said he is happy that the party in the state has picked a woman as his running mate.
According to him: ” She is bringing into the ticket a gender balance which is very important to the party and the all inclusive style of governance now introduced by SDP in Oyo state. She is an acknowledged community leader and she also come from a very strong academic environment. “
Born in September 1962, to the family of the late Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Isola, an Ogbomoso born businessman and madam Amudalat Isola. She is married to Mr. Edison Y. Gariba.
According to the statement, she obtained her Masters’ degree in M. Info. S (MIS) at the University of Ibadan, Oyo state while she had her degree in B. ed Social Studies obtained from the University of Ado – Ekiti, Ekiti state and Osun College of Education, Osun State.
