Police Rescue Abducted Fouani Brothers, Two Others In Lagos

The Lagos state police, on Tuesday, confirmed that they have rescued three Fouani brothers who were abducted in their boat by gunmen.

Thelagostimes had reported that the victims were kidnapped around the Falomo Bridge, in the Ikoyi area of the state on Friday evening, while travelling from Apapa to Victoria Island on a boat.

The boat conveying the victims was later recovered by the Police Marine Department in the Ikorodu area of Lagos on Saturday. There were reports that the kidnappers established calls with the victim’s family, requesting $1.5m as ransom.

However, on Tuesday, the police spokesperson in the state, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that the three Lebanese brothers, the boat captain and his assistant, were rescued in Orugbo Iddo Area in the Epe area of Lagos.

“Our Marine Police with the support of the Nigerian Navy brought them to shore. Thereafter, our tactical team in the area took them home on Banana Island in the early hours of today,” he said.

Hundeyin, however, added that the police were not aware if any ransom was paid and that no suspect had been apprehended in connection with the kidnap.
