Popular Korean Actor Lee Ji Han Confirmed Dead In Seoul Halloween Stampede

A South Korean actor, Lee Ji Han was among the 154 people who died in the Halloween stampede in Itaewon, Seoul on Saturday.

Acting agencies confirmed that Lee Ji-han was killed in the disaster in Itaewon. The 24-year-old was known for appearing as a contestant on the reality talent show Produce 101.

At least 132 other people are reported to be injured, including 37 in serious condition, with fears that the death toll could still rise.

South Korean prime minister, Han Duck-soo, on Monday, announced a thorough investigation into the stampede in what has become the country’s worst disaster in years.

Those killed or hurt were mostly teenagers and people in their twenties, according to Choi Seong-beom, chief of Seoul‘s Yongsan fire department.

Meanwhile, South Korean president Yoon Suk-Yeol has declared a national mourning period today as reactions of shock and condolences pour in from the rest of the world.

According to reports, an estimated 100,000 people had gathered in Itaewon for the country’s biggest Halloween festivities since the pandemic began and strict rules on gatherings were enforced.
