Seven Coronavirus Patients Discharged In Abuja, One In Lagos
Seven of the coronavirus patients who are receiving treatment at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Isolation centre have been discharged.
The minister of the FCT, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, said the patients were released after they were certified to have fully recovered from the virulent infection.
The Minister commended the health workers for their sacrifice and dedication, saying that the remaining 39 patients who are convalescencing would soon be discharged, too.
Bello also expressed delight at the compliance of the FCT residents to the 14-day movement restriction, noting that such restriction became imperative to curtail the spread of the disease.
He said, “Let me begin by appreciating the high level of compliance so far exhibited by residents of the FCT with regards to the 14-day restriction of movement as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari, with a view to curbing the Coronavirus pandemic.
“This restriction, was necessitated by the need to contain the spread of the virus within our community in order to safeguard lives.
“The level of compliance from residents, is proof that we all understand the magnitude of the challenge before us and we are ready to come together to fight this enemy, so we can return to our normal way of life as quickly as possible.
“Since the outbreak of the first Covid-19 case in the FCT, I have been kept abreast daily on the condition of the patients. I am delighted to announce that the first set of patients, totaling 7, are ready to be discharged, after their final tests results returned negative.
“Also, our dedicated and exceptional medical staff are doing their best to ensure the recovery and discharge of the remaining 39 patients. We cannot thank them enough for their efforts and we will always continue to encourage and support them.
“Let me also remind our residents that the FCTA is fully committed to fighting this Pandemic. We are not sparing any resources at our disposal in ensuring effective containment of the virus, and also in protecting the welfare of our people. And as long as we remain united in this fight, we will surely emerge victorious.

Lagos discharges a female coronavirus patient
In related development, the Lagos state government also announced that it has discharged another coronavirus patient.
The female patient was discharged from the state’s infectious disease isolation centre.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of the state disclosed this on Tuesday
Sanwo-Olu said the state is resolute in its resolve to fight the coronavirus and asked residents to stay at home for their safety.
“Dear Lagosians, I announce with immense joy, the discharge of another patient (a female) who has fully recovered from our facility at Yaba. This brings to 32, the number of patients we have successfully managed and discharged in Lagos,” he said.
“I look forward to sharing more great news in the coming days. This is indicative of the successes we are recording in our offensive against #COVID19.
“We are resolute in our resolve, we have the upper hand, we are winning and victory is surely ours.”
