Two Suspected ‘Yahoo Boys’ Allegedly Kill Man For Ritual In Ogun

Two suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys, have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a killing a 40-year-old man for ritual.

Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun, Abimbola Oyeyemi disclosed that the suspects told the police that the victim, Abdullahi Azeez, was dismembered after they took his life.

Oyeyemi added that the suspects, Friday Abinya Odeh (21) and Poso Idowu (20) were arrested after a report was lodged at the Owode Egba Police Division on June 9, 2022, by the relations of the victim that he left his home at Kobape on June 8, but never returned.

The State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, was said to have directed the anti-kidnapping unit of the State CIID to take over the case and unravel the mystery behind the man’s disappearance.

In compliance with the CP’s directive, the SP Taiwo Opadiran-led team reportedly embarked on a technical investigation, and the hideout of Friday Abinya Odeh was discovered on September 22. According to reports, the victim’s SIM card was recovered at the hideout.

According to Oyeyemi, the arrest of Odeh led to the apprehension of his accomplice, Poso Idowu.

“On interrogation, the suspects confessed that they kidnapped the victim on the 8th of June 2022 at the Kobape area, at about 7:30 pm, from where they forcefully took him to the bush, killed him and dismembered his body.

“They confessed further that it was one herbalist simply identified as Arab money who they claimed to have contacted on Facebook that prescribed the ritual for them,” the police spokesman explained.

He added that efforts to recover the victim’s remains proved futile, saying the suspects claimed to have disposed of them.

Meanwhile, the state Police Commissioner, Bankole, has directed that the suspects be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
