Unveiling Fidelity Bank MD Designate, Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe…Details of Her Amazing Lifestyle
Fidelity Bank is one of the leading commercial banks operating in Nigeria. While its range of services are not altogether different from other banks, Fidelity Bank stands out for one other thing: staffing. This is why Nnamdi Okonkwo stood out among Managing Directors of Nigerian banks, and why Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe has to stand out.
The latest gist from the quarters of Fidelity Bank is that the board of directors at Fidelity Bank have finally decided on Nnamdi Okonkwo’s successor, and this is none other than Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe—who is currently the bank’s Executive Director for Lagos and the South-West. This new appointment is coming on the heels of Okonkwo’s reported retirement. This means that come January the 1st of 2021, Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe will be wearing the hat and shoes of Nnamdi Okonkwo.
To be sure, Nnamdi Okonkwo is one of the most formidable banking MDs to exist within the Nigerian banking industry. Since his appointment to the MD chair in 2014, he has led the bank to tremendous heights of development, especially in the innovation and implementation of technology and digital services. It is said that in the last six years, Okonkwo’s work has pushed Fidelity Bank into 6th place in bank rankings—a position that was not earned by blood and tears alone, but brainwork and teamwork.
In other words, the board of directors believe Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe to be capable of topping Okonkwo and taking the bank to even taller heights. Considering her portfolio, this isn’t too much of a stretch.
With over 30 years banking experience, the choice of Onyeali-Ikpe is understandable. During all that time, she has worked in various capacities in Standard Chartered Bank, Zenith Bank, as well as Citizens International Bank. Onyeali-Ikpe’s excelled within the managerial accommodations of these banks. She has also has long since become a noteworthy authority in various aspects of banking, including corporate banking, investment banking, commercial banking, and Treasury.
Expectedly, Onyeali-Ikpe’s expertise has also been unfolded in transactions in the most significant of sectors, including oil & gas, manufacturing and exports, aviation, and real estate.
Although she is reportedly undertaking a Diploma programme in Organisational Leadership at Oxford University, UK, Onyeali-Ikpe has enjoyed a sound education: from her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from University of Nigeria, Nsukka; to a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from the Kings College; to corporate and executive training programmes organised at Harvard Business School, the Wharton School University of Pennsylvania, INSEAD School of Business, Chicago Booth School of Business, London Business School, etc.
With all of these, it is no surprise that she chaired the Lagos and Southwestern directorates since 2015. Or that she is going to replace the indomitable Nnamdi Okonkwo. Or that she is going to spur Fidelity Bank to heights never before reached.
