Ever since their acrimonious and very public breakup which kept gossip blogs buzzing like overexcited kids, Rahama Indimi and Muhammed Babangida have been fighting it out in court over who gets to take custody of their four children. At one point it looked like Rahama, daughter of Borno billionaire businessman Muhammed Indimi, would walk away the victor after a Sharia court ruled in her favour. But the tables have turned.
Muhammed, dissatisfied by the court’s ruling lobbied and had the case retried. Eventually, through fair means or foul, he upturned the earlier verdict of a court in Minna and scored a crushing legal victory over his former lover and current nemesis.
Unable to stomach the reversal of fortunes, Rahama took to social media site Instagram to lash out at Muhammed, son of former head of state General Ibrahim Babangida. whom she accused of bribing the judge to rule in his favour. According to her, Muhammed’s deep pockets and deeper connections proved too much for the judge to handle.
Those who are thinking she’d finally admit defeat and let sleeping dogs lie are in for a rude awakening. Rahama has vowed to fight to the finish in her bid to wrestle custody of the kids from her ex-husband’s iron grasp. She is chanting aluta slogans and girding her loins in readiness for another round of war.
