The Lagos State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ikeja today upheld the election of Moshood Olarenwaju of the All Progressives Congress, APC representing Lagos Mainland Constituency 2.

Ibrahim Olumide of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP had petitioned the tribunal challenging the declaration of Moshood Olarenwaju by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC as winners of the April 11 election.

Olumide contended that Moshood was not illegible to contest the House of Assembly election having not being properly nominated by his party APC.

The petitioner also contended that the primaries which produced Moshood as candidate of APC for the election was flawed as it feel shut of the 21 days requirement by the electoral act.

The tribunal however dismissed Olumide’s arguments and held that the election of Hon. Moshood was valid.

Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Sylvester Orji held that since INEC officials attended the APC’s rescheduled primaries which produced Hon. Moshood as the candidate of the party, his election is deemed valid.
