EFCC Arrests Seven Suspected Internet Fraudsters In Kwara

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested four suspected internet fraudsters in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The suspects are: Kayode Obanewo (aka Samantha James), Muhammed Ademola (aka Catherine Smith), Yusuf Rasheed (aka Rebecca Moore) and Apata Oluwakayode (aka Hanna Cole), TheNation reports.

It was gathered that the suspects were arrested on June 11 at Mandate Estate Phase II behind Irewolede area of operatives of the Ilorin zonal office of the EFCC.

During interrogation, one of the suspects, Obanewo Kayode, told EFCC operatives that he committed the crime.

He said: “I was arrested on June 11 at Mandate Estate Phase II, but before the day of my arrest, I met a friend who introduced me to Internet fraud. He gave me a laptop, which was the reason behind my arrest. I saw one email address on the laptop and I started using it to chat with some people at night when I come back from work.”

The other three suspected fraudsters arrested with similar offence at Agric Estate include Olorunwa Okikiola, Olurunfemi Olamide and Ogungbemi Soho.

Items recovered from the suspects include laptops, mobile phones, different types of sim cards, among others.
