A 60-year-old man, purportedly an elder of a local church, was discovered lifeless in a guesthouse in the Kapsoit area of Belgut sub-county, Kericho County.

The unsettling incident came to light on Wednesday night when the man’s body was found in one of the guest rooms.

Preliminary investigations have unveiled that the deceased had checked into the room accompanied by an unidentified woman said to be 19-year-old on Wednesday evening.

However, what adds a layer of mystery to this unfortunate discovery is the fact that the woman, who took the initiative to report the incident, is now missing and cannot be located.

The head of police in Belgut sub-county, Mr. Charles Kibati, confirmed the incident, noting that the deceased showed no visible injuries.

Nevertheless, a used condom was found beside the body, raising further questions and prompting ongoing investigations.

The authorities have taken the body of the church elder to the morgue at the Kericho County Referral Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Simultaneously, efforts are underway to locate the woman who accompanied him, as her insights could be instrumental in shedding light on the circumstances leading to the tragedy.

This unsettling occurrence shows the complexities surrounding the case, with authorities grappling to piece together the sequence of events.

As the investigation unfolds, the community awaits answers, and speculations loom about the nature of the relationship between the deceased church elder and the missing woman.

In a community where the local church often plays a central role, the loss of an elder under such circumstances is particularly distressing.
