Alleged $12m Fraud: Reactions Trail Arrest Of Obinwanne Okeke By FBI

Reactions have continued to trail the alleged arrest of Nigerian entrepreneur, Obinwanne Okeke by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Thelagostimes had earlier reported that the FBI in the United States reportedly arrested Obinwanne (Invictus Obi) Okeke over $12m fraud.

Thelagostimes gathered that Okeke, who was listed among Forbes 100 Most Influential Young Africans 2018, was arrested during a visit to the US.

The FBI did a thorough investigation on the criminal activities of the Nigerian entrepreneur, which led to his arrest by the law enforcement agency.

Screenshots of the affidavit reportedly sworn to an FBI Special agent, Marshall Ward, revealed that Okeke, who is popularly known as Invictus Obi, is being charged with conspiracy to commit computer fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Okeke was alongside three others, nominated for the most prestigious award for African businessmen/entrepreneurs, the All African Business Leaders Award for Young Business Leader (West Africa).

Obi has investment in real estate development, energy and construction. His company, Invictus Group, operates in three African countries, which include Nigeria, South Africa, and Zambia.

Reacting to the arrest via his verified twitter platform, the head of the Presidency Office of Digital Engagement, Tolu Ogunlesi, advised aspiring fraudsters to have a change of mind, saying if the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) does not arrest them, the FBI will.

Meanwhile, other Nigerians have taken to micro blogging site, Twitter, to react to the arrest.
