Rauf Aregbesola, the newly appointed minister of interior, has admitted that the ministry is strange to him, hence he doesn’t know how it operates and functions.

Aregbesola disclosed this when he paid a visit to the ministry on Wednesday after he, along side other ministers, was inaugurated.

Addressing officials, Aregbesola admitted that he knew little or nothing about the ministry’s policies and operations.

He said the little he knew about it was what he had gleaned from the pages of news paper.

“My relationship with the ministry is distant. What I know about the ministry is what I read in the newspapers,” he said.

“I will come to take over on Monday. I give the permanent secretary the grace to run the ministry till then. We will be ready by Monday to take on the huge assignment.”

The former Osun State governor assured the officials of a purposeful leadership under him.

He also implored them to be ready for more work as he will be asking much more from them.

He however instructed Georgina Ehuriah, the ministry’s permanent secretary, to continue calling the shots at the ministry till Monday when he would resume.

In her welcome address, Ehuriah said the ministry needed a focused and forthright character like Aregbesola to lead it because of its strategic position in the security architecture of the country.

She added that the official handover ceremony will take place on Monday.
