No fewer than four persons were reportedly killed in the early hours of Saturday when gunmen stormed a burial in Tongov district of Katsina-Ala local government area.
The Benue police command has confirmed the killings, assuring the public that the perpetrators would be brought to book.
Mukaddas Garba, the commissioner of police in the state, informed NAN of the incident in Makurdi.
The commissioner said the incident occurred during the burial of one late Tor Amaafu.
Garba said the police has commenced an investigation into the matter.
He implored the public to assist the police with relevant information that could lead to the culprits’ arrest.
Meanwhile, an eyewitness told NAN that the gunmen, numbering over 10, opened fire on the mourners and killed some of them while others sustained injuries.
