BREAKING: Fire Guts INEC Headquarters In Abuja

The headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) in Abuja has been engulfed by fire.

 

LagosTimes gathered that the inferno which started around 11am devastated an enormous partt of the building.

 

Mostly affected is the Election and Party Monitoring Department (EPM), which was completely razed.

But INEC National Commissioner and Chairman Voters’ Education and Information, Festus Okoye, said no vital document and paperworks were lost to the inferno.

The inferno is the latest in a string of high-profile recent fire outbreaks in government institutions and major public places.

It would be recalled that the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation was gutted by fire last week Thursday, sparking speculations of ploy to cover malfeasance and corruption in the Accountant-General’s office. Also, in quick succession, the CAC headquarters on Wednesday was razed by fire. Both buildings are situated in the federal capital territory, Abuja.

Also, in the same vein, the popular Dugbe market in Ibadan was ravaged by fire on Wednesday which led to the loss of properties worth millions. similarly, the camp of internally displaced persons in Ngala, Borno was gutted by fire on Thursday leaving at least fifteen people displaced.
