President Buhari Inaugurates Police Data Centre, Launches Electronic Surveillance Vehicles In Abuja

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari , on Friday, inaugurated the National Command and Control Centre as well as the first phase of the Nigeria Police Crime and Incident Database Centre at the force headquarters, Abuja.

The president also launched electronic surveillance vehicles and civil disorder management trucks acquired by the police to strengthen their crime-fighting capacity.

They are 139 Hilux Patrol Vehicles including 46 Police Smart Surveillance (CCTV Camera-on-the Move) Vehicles, 11 Tactical Operations Vehicles fitted with state-of-the-art surveillance equipment; 9 Armoured Personnel Carriers; 5 Troop Carriers; and 7 Anti-Riot Water Cannon Trucks.

At the launch, he commended the force for investing in technology to combat crime and promised to support the organisation to procure additional assets. The president also promised to support the security agency to procure additional assets to enhance the country’s security.
