The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi yesterday took a major step towards his quest to continue in office for second tenure by obtaining the expression of interest and nomination form for All Progressives Congress.
The governor, upon presenting a Zenith Bank cheque of N5.5 million to obtain the form at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja, said he is seeking to consolidate on the achievements of his administration. Fayemi used the occasion to warn the people of the state to be wary of politicians who are desperate to grab power at all cost.
Fayemi expressed appreciation to the leadership of APC for allowing him to seek a second term in office. According to him, the party’s vote of confidence is a confirmation of the good works of the administration in the state.
“The holding of the primaries was a confirmation of the party’ s resolve to keep to due process. It is very clear to the blind and resounding in the ears of the deaf that APC is the government in the waiting in Aso Rock,” he stated. Fayemi observed a minute silence in memory of young applicants who lost their lives during the ill-fated recruitment exercise by the Nigerian Immigration Service.
While accepting the cheque from Fayemi, the Interim National Organizing Secretary, Mr. Osita Izunaso said the party will be transparent in the conduct of the primaries the same way it did during the membership registration. APC had fixed April 12 for the Ekiti governorship primaries.
