Ayo Fayose, PDP Guber Aspirant

The stage is gradually setting for Ekiti State governorship election as former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has emerged victorious in the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship primaries conducted in Ado-Ekiti yesterday.
Fayose, according to the Dr. Peter Odili-led Electoral Panel, polled four hundred and sixty two (462) votes out of four hundred and seventy Seven (470) votes cast, beating the immediate past Minister of Police Affairs, Caleb Olubolade, who garnered seven (7) votes, Adedayo Adeyeye three (3) votes and Margaret Ogundipe, (1) vote.
13 of the aspirants led by Senator Gbenga Aluko had opted out of the exercise and gone to court in protest when they sensed that the election might have been skewed in favour of the former governor,.
Fayose will now square up with the current governor, Kayode Fayemi of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Bamidele Opeyemi who may emerge as Labour Party (LP) candidate in the Ekiti governorship election slated for June 21.
Fayose’s first tenure was dogged with controversies and allegations of corruption and murder. At the height of crises that bedevilled his government, he was chased out of office and ran away until 2007 after the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who oversaw his exit, had left office. He is still in court answering corruption charges.
