Google Celebrates Nigeria’s Independence, Changes Logo

Google Inc has joined Nigerians to mark the country’s 59th anniversary with a doodle carrying the Nigerian flag and Google written in the colour green.

The Google doodle is used to mark special occasions and individuals around the world. The special logo, according to Wikipedia, has been in use since 1988 when it first honoured the long-running annual Burning Man event in Black Rock City, Nevada.

The special logo has been used to celebrated many historical figures and events around the world as it has published over 2000 of it by 2014.’

Nigeria became an independent country on 1st October, 1960.

Nigerians mark their independence with various activities including live shows, march pasts and musical events across the country, with an independence day address by the president broadcast on live TV.
