It was thanksgiving galore this Sunday across the Christian community, especially in branches of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) following the narrow escape of Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo when the chopper conveying him to Kogi State crashed while landing.

The number two citizen who is also a senior pastor in RCCG was on his way to Kabba to attend a political function when the incident occurred. Tragedy was however averted as he and the people on board miraculously escaped unhurt.

Shaken but not cowed by his brush with mortality, the VP refused all entreaties to cancel his attendance and insisted on finishing the Kogi leg of his engagement of Nigerians on the ‘Next Level’ re-election plan of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Meanwhile, Remi Makanjuola, the chairman Caverton Group, is in the eye of the storm as the federal government commences investigations into the crash landing. The Augusta AW139 helicopter carrying the VP to Kogi is one of those in his company’s air shuttle service fleet.

The Caverton Helicopters boss who joined the septuagenarian club late last year is said to have been boxed into a tight corner by the development. Some irate members of the VP entourage have allegedly placed the responsibility for the mishap at his doorsteps. He is now running from pillar to post in a bid to make amends and avoid making enemies of the powers that be.
