The Ooni of Ile Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II celebrated his 44th birthday with family, friends and well wishers yesterday.

The Ooni who was born on 17th October, 1974 received his staff of office on December 7, 2015, after the death of the former ruler, late Oba Okunade Sijuwade, who died on July 28, 2015.

While congratulating Oba Ogunwusi, the former deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, lauded the monarch for his fatherly role, describing him as a blessing to Yoruba race, Nigeria and Africa, while also commending his stance on peace and development of humankind.

“The Yoruba race has attained world recognition and admiration due to the nobility and greatness of your throne, while Your Majesty’s wise, unbiased and non-partisan leadership has brought peace and happiness to the Ife Kingdom, Yoruba nation, Nigeria and Africa at large.

“Your Majesty has demonstrated leadership as a man of peace, a revered Royal Father, with great interest of your subjects at heart, and all your actions in the past years of your kingship have shown that you are for a peaceful co-existence in Ife kingdom, Yoruba land, Nigeria and Africa as a whole.”

“It is with great honour I, hereby join the numerous Ife indigenes, your subjects, and Yoruba Obas to felicitate with Your Majesty on this special day of yours, while also taking this joyful opportunity to pray God to always bestow His blessings upon Your Majesty and the people of the Ife Kingdom.

“I am equally praying for a long life, peaceful reign and more God’s wisdom for your rulership from Ife kingdom for more fruitful years ahead, as we the people of Ife revere you, our Royal Father, Your Majesty with high regard and respect”, Omisore said.
