Coronavirus: Ruckus As Reps Decline Motion To Repatriate Nigerians In China

The House of Representatives had a stormy session on Tuesday after a motion seeking for the evacuation of Nigerians in Wuhan, China was moved.

The motion was moved over fears of Nigerians in Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus, contracting the malignant diseases, which has become an epidemic.

Nigerian residents in Wuhan, the city where the dreaded coronavirus emanated from, have reportedly beseeched the Nigerian government to come to their aid and evacuate them.

Hon. Ben Kalu, during plenary session on, had sought the permission of the House to move a motion of urgent public importance on the need to evacuate Nigerians from the city.

A stupefied Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila did everything to ascertain the motion was moved by Kali but members kicked against it as the Chamber became rowdy.

Due to the decision of the overwhelming majority, deputy House Leader however decided to rescind the motion.

The Speaker appealed for the motion to be moved but but was overruled by who members will not allow the motion, insisting that China is better positioned and has better facilities to take care of the virus.
