Lagos Shuts Hotel, Night Club Over Violation Of Lockdown Directive

The Lagos state government has closed down two business outfits in Badagry West Local Council Development Area for flouting the fresh directives issued by the state on gradual easing of the lockdown.

Following the partial lifting of lockdown, the state government had reeled out guidelines aimed at regulating the operations of hotels, clubs and other businesses in the hospitality sector in the State.

But two hospitality outfit, Maggi Hotel, and Tambari Theatre Art (Night Club), were found contravening this guidelines.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Solomon Bonu, who supervised the closure of the businesses, said the facilities were shut for defying the order of the State government

He said, “It was also discovered that there is a high level of immorality going on in these places. The Night Club has become home for strippers, drug barons and all sorts of mischief”.

The Special Adviser decried the illegal and sharp practices of the management of the two facilities.

He bemoaned the flagrant disregard for the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture despite several admonitions and advocacies by the State government.

Bonu also disclosed that litigation would be initiated against the owners of the hotel and night club to ensure appropriate sanctions are meted out.

While noting that the exercise of monitoring the level of compliance across the State continues, the Special Adviser pleaded with residents to provide useful information that would assist in discovering other hotels and clubhouses still operating in different parts of Lagos.
