Works on 4th Mainland Bridge to commence before Dec ―LASG

LAGOS State government said on Wednesday that works on the 4th Mainland Bridge will commence before the end of the year, disclosing that the new preferred bidder would emerge latest June.

Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr Adebowale Akinsanya, said this at the ministerial press briefing of the ministry to mark the 3rd Anniversary of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Akinsanya also revealed that the state government completed 55 roads totalling 129 kilometres and 48 building projects between May 2017 and April 2018, pointing out that 25 roads and 17 building projects were ongoing across the various local governments in the state.

According to him, the Public Works Corporation rehabilitated 31 roads aside carrying out palliative maintenance, patching and sectional overlay on 115 roads, adding that the state government under Governor Ambode had continually worked to deliver projects that would directly impact on the lives of all Lagosians.

This was just as he said that commitment to infrastructural renewal, expansion, upgrading and regeneration was borne out of the fact that an efficient and integrated transportation system can only be birthed through the provision of appropriate infrastructure.

“We have continually worked to deliver projects that will directly impact the lives of all Lagosians residents. This commitment to infrastructural renewal, expansion, upgrading and regeneration is borne out of the fact that an efficient and integrated transportation system can only be birthed through the provision of appropriate infrastructure.”

Akinsanya maintained that the Ambode led administration had matched its vision with action by embarking on projects that would improve overall accessibility by improving businesses’ ability to provide goods and services and people’s ability to access education, employment and services.

“The provision of physical and social infrastructure across the state which will crystallise into mega structures will interest visitors and tourists coming to savour the beauty and grandeur of Lagos,” he said.

On flooding, the commissioner said maintenance of all primary, outfall, secondary and tertiary drainages had been contracted to ensure all year round desilting of channels, contending that this was to prevent the re-occurrence as well as curtail the menace and its negative impact.
