Falcons Out of World Cup After Penalty Loss To England

The Nigeria national women’s football team, Super Falcons, are now out of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Thelagostimes reports that the Super Falcons lost to the Lionesses of England via a penalty shoot-out in the Round of 16 on Monday.

Nigeria had played a 0-0 draw with England after 120 minutes, and Desire Oparanozie and Michelle Alozie missed their spot-kicks during the penalty shoot-out.

The Super Falcons are expected to be back to Nigeria while England awaits a match with Colombia or Jamaica.

The quarter-final stages are expected to take place on Friday and Saturday.
